Sunday 12/27/09

We now have a bass and amp for the church to use!! Ben L and I were talking and he would like to learn some songs on the bass etc. We would like your input Ben W. on what songs may be easiest to learn for the 1st few times etc and then some to work on for future dates. If you could look at our song list and make a few suggestions for this Sunday then let us know. Ben L also said he would like the music with the cords as this would help. If you are coming tonight to the Christmas eve service bring some along if possible. I would like to repeat In Christ alone for this Sunday. Other than that we can pick some songs to use with the bass. I would also like to ask Joey or Boo to play with us this Sunday on drums or if Boo is comfortable with the bass etc. We can talk tonight.

O come all ye faithful
My soul is filled with Joy
One more maybe a new one if we can practice a little before church. Possibly in Christ alone or one we are more familiar with.
See you around 8:45am

I can't thank you enough!

By Becca
Here's my pick for a new song! It's too new to have a YouTube of it, to hear it go to Enter the Worship Circle's myspace and click the last song on their pop-out player, it's called, "I Can't Thank You Enough." Imagine all of us singing this together with drums and a bass! Very cool! Only a slight problem of finding the chords to this....there had to be a hitch!

By Ben...
First of all, let me apologize for the video that some of these songs are associated with. Just minimize the window and LISTEN. My intent is to bring out the version (and several of the following songs have many versions) of each song that best exemplifies the general direction that I think we could shape it based on our current abilities and instruments. By the way, we need more musicians!

Here are a few songs I'd like to try practicing. Let's come up with our own interpretations!

Great harmony potential...

Surrender, by Marc James

This has a good vibe.
He Reigns, by Peter Furler and Steve Taylor

Very Beautiful...Great lyrics.
In Christ Alone, by Stuart Townsend and Keith Getty

This one is still a ways off, I think...
Our Love is Loud, by David Crowder

Some things to listen to and think about for after Christmas time...

8-30-09

Above is one of our "new" songs, though it's an oldie, it's a goodie!

Here's the order:
1. Undignified
2. Abres Mis Ojos
3. Soon and Very Soon
4. Amazing Grace
5. Lord You Are More Precious than Silver

The last one is also "new" but not really, and we tried to find a rendition we liked on-line, but couldn't. So, if you want to hear the melody Google the song name and you can hear it, but we're hoping to sound much less cheesy. The words are being e-mailed to you, Micah! See y'all at 8:30am so we can practice the new stuff!

No Bananas

Just so we don't all bother her, I called Maria Koshmider and asked if she could play keyboard for us on July 5th and she is not able. Gale and Cory have confirmed that they also cannot be there that day. That means, yes, we have no bananas..I mean, accompaniment that day. We've sung with just drums before, it'll be ok.

6-21-09

Songs for this week include:

  • Open the Eyes of my Heart Lord
  • I will not forget you
  • Lord I lift Your Name on High
  • Agnes Dei
With special music by Freida and Kayla!! Yay!!
New closing song: "Glory to God in the Highest" -Ben will lead

Next week Ben and Becca will be in Mansfield. Gale has agreed to help accompany and plans to choose the songs for that week as Joel, Rose and Ben don't return until the day before. Call Gale to find out what time to meet her & Joel at church to practice before hand, as there might be a new song in the mix.

The week of Fourth of July, Ben and Becca will be in West Virginia. I believe Joel, Rose & Ben, and Gale & Cory will be at the Mennonite Conference in Columbus. I haven't asked Maria yet to see if she's available.

Hopefully, life will get back to normal again after that.

Found it!!

I cleaned all day preparing for our open house tonight. The realtor pulled in the drive just as I was changing a diaper. I folded the changing pad up to be stowed away inside the futon's seat and as I lifted the seat up to stuff it in, guess what I saw?!? Yup! The binder full of recently organized music. Thanks for your prayers! Yay!

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

It's not under the couch...or in the trunk of our car.

Hey everybody! Ben and I are STILL looking for our big binder of worship music! Pray we find it soon! I just posted last week's music for record keeping purposes, so you can ignore that e-mail.

If anyone would like to post to this blog...after you get a free Google account, just go to the e-mail previously sent to you inviting you to become an author and accept the invitation. Once you're an official "author" you sign in using your Google account, then click "New Post". Type like you're typing an e-mail then click "Publish Post". Then you're done!

We know that we don't need special music every week, but these first few weeks after the "Grand Opening" we thought it would be nice to have something scheduled if possible. Currently, nothing is scheduled for this Sunday, May 10th (Mother's Day!). The following week, I believe Katherine said she could do a piece on her violin. June 7th my parents and I plan to do something. Also, I recruited Melissa Weaver to sing for us on June 14th (the day before her birthday, I believe). That leaves lots of holes if anyone is feeling inspired to bring in their hammer dulcimer or kazoo or whatever.

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Greetings!

You found it! Not all the posts need to be song lists, that's why we're all authors, so we can communicate with each other.

In my notebook I had a list of songs that Joel had written down as ideas for our Grand Opening Sunday:
  • I will not forget you
  • River of Life
  • Lord I lift your Name
  • Open the Eyes of My Heart/Abre Mis Ojos
  • Amazing Grace
  • Go out with Joy
I also had a note that we need blue hymnals. Is that still true? What else do we need?
When shall we practice next? Definitely after church next week (4/19/09), but is that one practice enough for our big day? You can leave comments or post your own post!
